Re:collection, Australian Graphic Design
Re:collection was established in 2009 by Dominic Hofstede as an online archive of Australian graphic design, with a focus on work created between the years 1960–1990. The project was created primarily to address the scarcity of reference material available related to this most significant period for the profession.
Re;collection is one of my favourite Australian design sites to dip into every now and then to peruse an array of beautiful graphic design from years past. As Australian designers we are not great in recognising the great men and women who forged the identity of Graphic design in this country. It’s great to go back to the days pre: computer, to investigate the evolution and maturation of Australia’s graphic design industry during this key period as the site so aptly puts it. If you have a bit of time to wile away I definitely recommend checking the site out as a calming panacea to the hubbub of todays in-your-face instagram deluge!
